You know the process.

Your team already knows how its monthly reporting, reconciliation or data-preparation process works. What may be less clear is:
Which steps can reliably be automated
Whether the saving justifies the work
Which technology is appropriate
Where AI genuinely helps
The safest first implementation
Whether the process should be improved before it is automated

The Finance Automation Opportunity Review assesses one recurring process and identifies what is technically feasible, commercially worthwhile and sensible to implement first.
Credited in full against an agreed implementation sprint
This is not a process-mapping exercise. The value is determining what is commercially worthwhile, technically feasible, and a suitable starting point. What I’ll need from your team: access to someone who understands the process, representative files, and a lead who can agree the final scope.

Evidence
Practical improvements, not automation theatre
400 working days saved annually
A recurring reporting process used across a 10-person team was converted into a refreshable Power Query workflow. Before: approximately 10 working days per person, every quarter
After: a refreshable reporting process requiring limited manual intervention, completed in a few minutes. Estimated annual capacity value: £83,000.
Live SaaS data converted to financial insight
A UK SaaS platform serving architects and engineers needed customised, decision-ready reports that worked in Excel for the Web.Solvista delivered a dynamic Actuals + Forecast reporting suite with period selection, segmentation, live-data refresh and client-ready presentation. Total duration, including sign-off meeting, was fewer than three working days. The solution was delivered with minimal oversight and required almost no back-and-forth to reach sign-off.Client quote:
“Matthew has a rare ability to bridge the gap between technical detail and business requirements. He grasped the accounting logic immediately and delivered professional reports that required almost no back-and-forth.”

Why your business should upgrade
A practical business case, not another training expense
A team member may first identify the problem while improving their own Excel or Power Query skills. But some recurring processes are better solved once for the whole team than repeatedly managed by individuals. An engagement may be worthwhile where:
The work recurs monthly, quarterly or more frequently
Several people repeat the same manual steps
Errors create rework or reporting risk
The process depends heavily on one employee
Data arrives in recurring but inconsistent files
Existing systems do not produce the required output
Preparation uses time better spent on business insights
Solvista builds on staff knowledge to identify and implement a more efficient process, leaving the team with a documented, usable solution rather than another external dependency.Training on the solution is included.
Training on developing your own solutions is also available.
How it works
A controlled route from opportunity to implementation
1. Introductory conversationWe establish which recurring process presents an automation opportunity.2. Then I assess feasibility, value, risks and the recommended first implementation.3. Fixed-scope implementation sprintYou receive a defined deliverable, fixed fee and acceptance criteria before work begins.4. Handover and results reviewI manage the build. Your team reviews key outputs, tests the completed solution and receives practical training and documentation.
Clear outcomes without creating a technical project for you to manage.

About
Finance understanding. Process improvement.
I’m Matthew Gregory, founder of Solvista.I have more than 15 years of finance and business experience, including Management Accountant, Finance Manager and acting Head of Finance responsibilities. I have led month-end work, built forecasts and managed the systems that provide information to business leaders.Today, I help finance teams improve recurring processes, reporting and decision-making. My work typically begins by understanding the existing workflow, identifying inefficiencies and clarifying requirements before redesigning processes and implementing practical solutions.
I use Excel, Power Query, Microsoft 365, Copilot and AI-enabled automation tools where they add value, but technology is only part of the solution. The real objective is creating processes that are faster, accurate and more robust.Developers can build technically impressive systems without understanding the accounting requirement. Finance teams understand the requirement but may not know what can be automated reliably or economically. Solvista brings those disciplines together.
